The best summers aren’t about packed schedules and fancy travel plans. They’re made of random roadtrips, spontaneous plans ,and of course good company. So, we made ya a checklist of things to add to your summer bucket list. Who knows, they might just become one of your favorite memories 🙂
1. Camp out & ditch the phone
We’re ALL for capturing memories, but there’s something so special about reallyyy being present. So set up camp, maybe pack some s’mores, and enjoy the company of your favorite people instead of staring at a screen.
P.S. I use Hipcamp for THE BEST camping spots. This weekend, I camped on a rad couple’s animal sanctuary / organic farm with my dog. We had SO. MUCH. FUN. and you will too.
2. Host a beach bonfire night
Next time you’re tempted to say “there’s nothing to do,” start a group chat, grab a speaker, and head to the beach for a bonfire. The best nights start with no real plan :) and if you’re brave enough to, night swimming is pretty dang fun (and also really scary). Just be safe and don’t swim too far!
3. Give out a St. Chris necklace to a stranger
This is one of our favorite traditions - giving away a St. Christopher necklace - especially to someone who’s least expecting it. But if talking to strangers gives you the heebie jeebies (hi, same), write a lil note and leave it somewhere you know someone will find it. We promise, a little kindness goes a long way.
4. Buy a disposable camera and use the whole roll in a day
One of the many reasons we love film is how it captures everything so naturally. So this isn't about getting the perfect shot, with the perfect lighting, with the perfect pose. It’s about shooting everything: the good, the weird, the messy! & after the roll is done, take it to a local shop to get them developed, and put the prints up to always remind you of Summer ‘25 :)
5. Plan a weekend road trip to somewhere you’ve never been before
It doesn’t have to be far, but pick a town you’ve never been to. All you really need is a full tank of gas, a few friends, a good playlist, and you're on your way. And definitely take a couple detours for the so-called “World’s Best Tacos” abd weird art installation in the middle of the desert. The weirder, the better.
6. Go surfing (or learn how!)
If you already surf, we’ll catch you out there. But, if you’ve never tried, summer is the perfect time to learn. So rent a board, ask a friend to teach you, and get out there. We promise, when we were learning to surf… we wiped out a TON too, but the first wave you catch will make it all worth it.
7. Make a St. Christopher Friendship Bracelet
It’s tradition to give a St. Chris medallion to someone you love - yes, that includes your best friend. Grab some shells, string, and your favorite colorways (we just dropped 22 new ones, btw). To make it easy, we even made a tutorial to get you started - check it out here.
So, that’s the list & we hope you take away a few core-memories from it. Say yes to the plan. Ditch your phone. Give away a necklace, just because. If you end up crossing any of these off, tag us @getbacknecklaces - we love seeing how you spend your summers 💛
Catch ya out there.
