September by the Shore: Beach Activities to do in September

Fall is upon us, and as much as we want to deny it, summer is over:( The leaves are changing, the sun is going down sooner + the weather is getting chillier. However, here in SoCal, its Locals Summer. The time when all the tourists are gone and the locals can enjoy a peaceful day on the beach + the weather is still warm. If you're local to a beach or happen to be traveling, here’s a few of our favorite beach activities to do in September.

Low Tide Diaries:

If you get lucky + the tide is on your side, visiting the tide pools is one of our favorite things to do. The best treasurers are found when the tide is low in fall. Generally between Sept-Dec. When the tide starts to pull back and the pools reveal themselves you can enjoy finding shells, sea creatures such as starfish, sea anemones + more! Making sure to respect the sea life + not taking anything that is living is KEY!

Shell Season:

September brings calmer tides and fewer people, making it prime time for beachcombing and finding keepsakes. Being conscious of what you take from the beach is super important. While looking for shells, be sure to check if it’s still a lil guys home! Not over taking and leaving some empty shells for creatures to use as home is also best! If you happen to find a piece of sea glass, make sure you are aware if you are in a protected area, but overall you should be good. Sea glass is usually just considered litter therefore you are helping with the beach clean-up!

Dolphin Mornings:

Early glassy mornings in fall are the best time to spot a group of dolphins! When the waters are calm it’s easier to detect their movements. Be on the lookout for a lil fam of dolphins when the water is cooler and they are focused on feeding.

Bonfire Tides:

Fall means bonfires + even better… on the beach! Grab your favorite people and head to the beach for a bonfire + s’mores of course;)
